  1. DIAMETER OF THE FRONT BELL LENS, THE BIGGER THE MORE LIGHT GETS IN–USUALLY, NOT ALWAYS, THE BIGGER THE BETTER.

A 50 MM IS EVEN BETTER–(USUALLY), ALSO A 1″ TUBE WILL NOT LET IN AS MUCH LIGHT AS A 30MM WILL.

  2. The third number is the diameter of the objective lens, more or less.

Neither is necessarily better than the other. Quality of glass is going to matter a lot more. But if all else is equal, then the larger lens will gather more light. On the other hand, the smaller scope size is more appropriate on a carbine or mountain rifle where quick handling is a major consideration.

  4. the last number is the diameter of the scope and the higher the number the more light it lets in. the more light the better u can see. generally u buy a scope to fit the Caliber and shooting style. for long distance/sniping shooting go with the 40 for sleeker look, more mobile or smaller Caliber go with 32. i have a 3x9x32 on my .22 and it works great,

  5. Its a Great scope for airsoft, pellet gun, .22. but ONLY if its a quality company. most scopes that are just thrown in with the purchase is not that great.

  6. 3x9x40
