On the District 9 DVD there is a two option menu. What is the significance of each?

I was hoping that one option tells the story in a slightly different manner, but my real guess is that one is just the director’s cut or something. I’m not going to go and watch it all the way through again just to find out, and if it is only a slight difference then I doubt I would notice.

The two options are either a human or a prawn (alien) figure similar to those seen on bathroom doors. 1. Ok, here is what I have found out. The only difference between the “human” and “alien” selection at the beginning is the look of the disc main menu. If you select the “human”, and look carefully at the main menu that follows, then go back and select the “alien” and look carefully at ITS main menu, both menus are slightly different (slightly different menu animation), but the actual PLAYBACK of the movie is the same no matter which you choose at the beginning of disc play. Here is a quote I got from a DVD review webpage I found:

“On your first visit, Disc 1 lets you choose between human and alien versions of the animated main menu.”

Of course, the “animated main menu” is what follows the selection of either “human” or “alien”. And hovering the mouse over one of the pictures of the same webpage gave me this bit of info:

“Disc 1 lets you choose between a human-flavored menu and an alien one, although the differences are minor”.

Again though, it would appear that the actual movie play back is the same.

    Hope this helps….

Additionally, since I posted the above, I have been to two other websites that say the same thing: the “human” and “alien” choice only changes the animation on the main menu that follows your selection, movie playback is the same.
