I am about to purchase the economy class internet for comcast and

I need to know how fast this is

It”s similar to the speed of DSL — this is ok for many uses — much better than just plain old dial-up— many people subscribe to this service.If you like using a VOIP (telephone)system — then this should do well enough– watching videos should be ok too. It”s your download speed you should look at –do you download a lot ? Stuff like movies / music.If your download speed is rather slow — then it”s going to take a very long time .

    Your connection speed may depend on the distance from your computer to the transmitting station (Comcast),and also the customer load >>number of people online at the same time. You may never get the full speed(786kb/s) because of these 2 things— you most likely will not– it will be slower .

    “They” always advertise in the ads ” up to” for the connection speed , but this depends on the above I mentioned.

    It will most likely serve many of your needs — even if you have to wait a little. If you can afford it — go higher.

    I have cable –4000 kb/s down — 512kb/s up — but I want more,and will upgrade soon. You too may grow tired ,after a while with your speed ,and want more. Check out AT&T.

  4. 786 Kbps is the fastest the line will be so on a good day it would take about 25 seconds to download a song and about 70 seconds to download a small video clip.

    divide by 8 for the approximate speed in kilobytes (KB) which is 98.25 Kilobytes per second.

    It is about half the speed of a t1.

    Just so you know, in terms of what is normal this is kinda slow. Most cable providers and dsl offer 3Mbps (4 times faster than what you are getting). Sometimes though in congested areas the slower speeds are all that is available. I’m just saying check the competition and make sure you aren’t getting ripped off.

  6. This is about the same download speed you will get if you order DSL. 786kbps is the equivalent of about 14 dialup connections. It is pretty fast, but I hope you aren’t paying a lot for that speed. If you are going to get cable, you should be getting around 4 mbps (or almost 4x what you are asking). Normally it is 768/128kpbs. The first number is your download speed and the second is your upload speed.

  7. Its in kilo bits so when converted to bytes its about 90kb per second. So its fast enough for browsing the net, email, downloading files {very big downloads may take some time}.
