Step 1
The motor unit, which contains the motor nerve fiber and the muscle fibers, is the functional unit of muscular contraction. The neurons receive signals from the brain and send them to all of the muscle fibers in that motor unit. Motor units ensure that the force of muscular contraction is distributed uniformly throughout the muscle.
